Common Core Math: Grade 4: Numbers in Base Ten
In fourth grade, students extend the concept of place value to whole numbers of any length by understanding that the place value of any digit is 10 times more than the place value of the digit to its right. Students compare multi-digit numbers, using inequality symbols to record the results, and round numbers to any place value. Students gain fluency with addition and subtraction, multiply pairs of multi-digit numbers and divide multi-digit numbers by single-digit divisors. Students use equations, arrays and other visual models to demonstrate their thinking.
