Examples for
Common Core Math: Statistics & Probability
From sixth to eighth grade, students collect and interpret statistical data. Students compute summary statistics, including measures of center, such as mean and median, and measures of spread, such as range and mean deviation. Students analyze data for patterns and display data using various types of plots. In seventh grade, students explore probability by performing probability experiments and computing the probabilities of chance events. In eighth grade, students work with two-dimensional data to describe relationships between two variables, using linear models as approximations.
